Melania Trump’s Farewell Address

Melania Trump is giving what the White House called a “farewell address.” In it (watch above), she said: “The past four years have been unforgettable.” There was one line that may have been a reference to the siege on Capitol Hill and/or threats surrounding the inauguration:

Be passionate in everything you do but always remember that violence is never the answer and will never be justified.

The outgoing first lady also addressed her Be Best campaign:

I launched Be Best to ensure that we as Americans are doing everything we can to take care of the next generation. Be Best has concentrated on three pillars: well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse.

Ironic that she mentioned online safety just 10 days after her husband was banned on Twitter “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Meanwhile, CNN reports:

Melania Trump will become the first modern first lady not to invite the woman who will replace her to the White House for a walk-through of the private living quarters on the second and third floors. From Bess Truman and Mamie Eisenhower’s meeting, to the visit Laura Bush hosted where Jenna and Barbara Bush showed Sasha and Malia Obama how to slide down the banister in the Residence, to the visit where Michelle Obama invited Melania Trump even after Donald Trump had questioned her husband’s citizenship, this tradition has long been one of the first lady’s many unwritten obligations. And Melania Trump has discarded it.
