Appearing together for the first time as running mates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris looked at ease with one another.  There were kind words for each other and talk about what will no doubt be a very ugly campaign over the next three months. Politico writes:

“The presumptive Democratic nominees made their debut in the gymnasium at Alexis I. DuPont high school in Wilmington, Del., where the former vice president touted Harris’ history as a senator and attorney general of California as a foil to the actions of Trump. Harris decried the president as a neglectful leader and pushed the Democratic ticket’s policy objectives, from fighting climate change to expanding affordable health care.”

The Washington Post writes both candidates addressed the influence of Biden’s late son, Beau, in the decision.

“Biden and Harris both complimented the other through their memories of Beau, passing along accolades from Biden’s late son as if he were there endorsing the union of his father and good friend.

“Biden acknowledged that his son’s friendship with Harris played a significant role in his ultimately choosing her. They served as attorneys general at the same time, forming a bicoastal friendship.”
