A police official in Georgia is under fire after seeming to downplay the motive for the man who confessed to murdering 8 people at spas in the Atlanta area. During a news conference Wednesday, Capt. Jay Baker of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said, “He was pretty much fed up and at the end of his rope, and yesterday was a really bad day for him, and this is what he did.”

Obviously, saying it was a bad day is an understatement and even The Onion broke its satirical character to point this out.

There’s also a suggestion of a major double standard.

Baker is also being criticized for his comments suggesting that the suspect said the killings weren’t “racially motivated.”
