Sen. Susan Collins Will Vote To Acquit The President

Senator Susan Collins may have voted to hear from witnesses in the impeachment trial, but she is voting to acquit Donald Trump on the articles of impeachment. She spoke before the Senate today (watch above) saying the president’s behavior was “improper,” but at the same time said:

“I do not believe that the House has met its burden of showing that the president’s conduct, however flawed, warrants the extreme step of immediate removal from office.”

Washington Post Conservative opinion write Jennifer Rubin writes, “Sen Collins reasons are ridiculous. A crime is NOT needed. Blame her own party for not calling Bolton. She personifies the intellectual corruption and cowardice of GOP.”

CBS also spoke with Collins, she remarked: “The president has been impeached, that’s a pretty big lesson… I believe he will be much more cautious in the future.”

It’s hard to believe that Trump has learned a lesson when he has maintained he has done nothing wrong and that his call with Ukraine was “perfect.”
