Sondland Hearing: Two Moments That Drew Applause

The headline out of the Gordon Sondland hearing was no doubt the Ambassador to the EU admitting “quid pro quo.” But there were a couple of other moments that caused a reaction from members in the chamber.

The first came as Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) was interrupted by Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX). Conaway was trying to make a point about fact-checking when Speier delivered a clever dig at the President. Sean Maloney’s (D-NY) questioning that brought a big round of applause. The Congressman spent a few minutes getting Sondland to admit that Trump would benefit from having Ukraine look into the Bidens.
