The first dogs already look right at home in the White House. Today while President Joe Biden was signing an executive order, Major and Champ, both German Shepherds were just outside the Oval Office barking and enjoying the White House lawn.

The dogs moved into the White House Sunday. First Lady Jill Biden’s press secretary Michael LaRosa told CNN:

“The First Family wanted to get settled before bringing the dogs down to Washington from Delaware. Champ is enjoying his new dog bed by the fireplace, and Major loved running around on the South Lawn.”

Three-year-old Major is the first rescue dog to live in the White House. As Good Morning America notes, animal lovers hope seeing a shelter dog in the White House will help encourage other people to adopt dogs who need loving homes. Watch their story above.
