Train Overpass Collapse In Mexico City Leaves 23 Dead, Dozens Injured

A horrific scene in Mexico City as an elevated subway platform collapses, causing the train to plunge onto a street. At least 23 people were killed and another 70 injured. Some of the injured are reportedly in cars that were crushed beneath the train. A surveillance camera captured the moment of the collapse.

The Washington Post writes:

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum vowed a full investigation into the incident, which occurred on Line 12 of the metro, near the Olivos station southeast of the city center.

At the scene of the crash, Sheinbaum said that a support beam appeared to have collapsed when a train was passing and that minors were among the dead.
