Protests in Washington DC turned ugly and dangerous Wednesday afternoon. It began after Donald Trump spoke to supporters near the White House.  With Trump’s encouragement, the supporters then marched up Pennsylvania Ave. to the Capitol building. Some rioters made it inside the building just steps away from the Senate floor.

It began as both houses of Congress began certifying the electoral college votes. But now, the Congress is in recess.

The Washington Post writes:

The crowd made it to the Capitol steps but didn’t get inside the building, where Congress is meeting to count electoral college votes for President-elect Joe Biden.

Police held back the group as protesters chanted “USA, USA!”

Protesters then scaled the construction structures. At least two people were tackled by Capitol Police and security officials.

Warning: MSNBC showed graphic video of someone being wheeled out of the Capitol just around 3 pm.

The mayor of Washington has called for a 6pm curfew on Wednesday night. And here’s a statement from Donald Trump.
