As the candidates await the results of the election, they seem to be spending their time very differently. Today Joe Biden urged people to stay calm, writing:

Be patient, folks. Votes are being counted, and we feel good about where we are.

And he offered up this Tweet which seems to suggest he knows that he could be the president-elect as soon as today:

Let me be clear: I campaigned as a proud Democrat, but I will govern as an American president.

He is also already taking a look at something that, if he does take office, will no doubt be tops on his agenda, dealing with coronavirus. The Associated Press reports:

Biden is getting virtual briefings on the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout from panels of experts, sticking to a routine he’s had since March, even as the outcome of the presidential race remains in doubt.

After the briefing, Biden gave this brief statement.

As for Donald Trump, as the country marks more than 100,000 coronavirus cases in one day, he has been silent on the matter. Instead, he has been screaming on Twitter today (in all caps) about legal vote counting and several of his posts have been getting flagged for misinformation.

This is reportedly the first time the president has come to the Oval Office since early Wednesday morning. It’s believed he has otherwise been in his residence watching TV and tweeting. There were also reports that Trump was calling Republican governors in states that still haven’t finished counting. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins said that included Arizona’s Doug Ducey and Georgia’s Brian Kemp.
