WSJ: Giuliani Associates Tried To Get Previous Ukrainian President To Investigate Biden

Welcome

NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 23: Lev Parnas (L) and his wife Svetlana Parnas depart federal court following an arraignment hearing on October 23, 2019 in New York City. Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, along with Andrey Kukushkin and David Correia, are associates of Rudy Giuliani who have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to circumvent federal campaign finance laws in schemes to funnel foreign money to U.S. candidates running for office at the federal and state levels. Rudy Giuliani and his associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Furman, have been working the Ukraine/Biden angle longer than we knew. The Wall Street Journal is reporting:

Months before President Trump pressed Ukraine’s newly installed leader to investigate Joe Biden’s son and allegations of interference in the 2016 U.S. election, two associates of Rudy Giuliani urged the prior Ukrainian president to announce similar probes in exchange for a state visit to Washington, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Journal also writes the meeting, which hasn’t been previously reported, “shows associates of the U.S. president’s personal lawyer as early as February were pressing the president of Ukraine to open investigations that could benefit Mr. Trump politically in exchange for a White House visit.

The visit never happened. An attorney for Giuliani says his client knows nothing of the meeting.
