Linda Tripp has passed away at the age of 70. Tripp became a household name after secretly recording conversations with Monica Lewinsky about her affair with then-president Bill Clinton. At the time Tripp and Lewinsky both worked at the White House.

The Washington Post says, “Ms. Tripp was praised as a whistleblower by some for calling out presidential misbehavior with an intern in the Oval Office, and was vilified by others as a snitch who betrayed her friendship with Lewinsky in an effort to bring down a president.”

Tripps’s death was said to be unrelated to coronavirus. The Daily Mail, the publication that broke the news, reports she “was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer less than a week ago when she took herself to hospital suffering from stomach pains.”

Earlier in the day Tripp’s daughter, Allison, reportedly wrote a Facebook that read, “My mommy is leaving this earth. I don’t know myself if I can survive this heartache.” Soon after that post, Lewinsky posted this tweet.

The video above, from CSPAN, shows Tripp speaking for the first time in 15 years. It was taken back in 2018 at an event honoring National Whistleblower Day.
