Donald Trump’s move to commute his pal Roger Stone’s sentence is bringing widespread condemnation, but not from conservative members of Congress. However, there is one Republican who is coming out against the president. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) calls this “historic corruption.”
The Washington Post editorial board echoed Romney’s comments calling this “a perversion of justice.”
“It is one of the most nauseating instances of corrupt government favoritism the United States has ever seen.”
But many people are asking whether Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) is sick over this news. When she voted to acquit the president earlier this year she remarked, “I believe that the president has learned from this case…The president has been impeached. That’s a pretty big lesson… I believe that he will be much more cautious in the future.”
Most other Republicans are noticeably silent. There are a few Trump allies though who have shown their support for the president’s decision. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called it “justified” saying “Mr. Stone is in his 70s and this was a non-violent, first-time offense.” (Note: Stone is actually only 67 years old)
Roger Stone’s prosecution by overzealous Special Counsel prosecutors was an outgrowth of the Obama-Biden misconduct.

Like every president, President Trump has the constitutional right to commute sentences where he believes it serves the interests of fairness and justice.
