Many people in Texas are now on their fourth day with no power and no access to clean water. While power is restored for a bulk of residents, there are still hundreds of thousands of people without electricity.
The Associated Press reports, “In Texas, just under 500,000 homes and businesses were still without electricity Thursday morning, down from about 3 million the day before. The state’s grid manager, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, said Thursday morning that the remaining outages are largely weather-related, rather than forced outages that were made early Monday to stabilize the power grid.”

The crisis is now blamed for more than 30 deaths.
Hour 62 of no power in central Austin: One of my neighbors walked to 7-11 a couple hours ago and found a dead woman frozen on the sidewalk. Those are the conditions here in Austin, Texas, for those inclined to make jokes about how weak or stupid we are.
