Ghislaine Maxwell faces her most serious charges yet.

On Monday, federal prosecutors filed two sex-trafficking charges against Jeffery Epstein’s longtime associate.

They allege that Maxwell recruited, groomed, and paid a 14-year old girl to engage in sex acts with Epstein, the serial sexual predator who killed himself in police custody in 2019. Prosecutors also allege that Maxwell and Epstein asked the girl to recommend other young women who would be willing to perform erotic massages for money.

The new federal indictment refers to multiple incidents from 2001 to 2004 and marks an intensification in the case against Maxwell, who has been in police custody since July 2020. She has maintained her innocence.
