Kayleigh McEnany is lying about never lying. The former White House press secretary under Donald Trump made the questionable comments while speaking at the Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit over the weekend. McEnany was addressing the infamous remark she made on her very first day as press secretary, “I will never lie to you. You have my word on that.” McEnany told conference-goers that she stuck to that promise:

“As a woman of faith, as a mother of baby Blake, as a person who meticulously prepared at some of the world’s hardest institutions, I never lied. I sourced my information.”

A quick search of Mediaite’s archives presents a much different view of McEnany’s record of honestydocumenting multiple examples of her stretching the truthdodging questions, just flat-out lying, or backing up some of Trump’s absurd claims.

Politifact has a fairly harsh rating for McEnany’s tenure as press secretary, evaluating her statements as “Mostly False,” “False,” or “Pants on Fire” 56 percent of the time. McEnany earned “Half True” 14 percent of the time, “Mostly True” 28 percent, and “True” zero percent.

Back in December Jim Acosta confronted McEnany in the White House briefing room, asking her, “Isn’t it hypocritical for you to accuse others of disinformation when you spread it every day?”

McEnany is predictably getting mocked for her comments.
