Breaking News from the AP: the state of California has officially rejected President Trump’s initial plans to station National Guard troops along its border with Mexico.

Two US officials told the AP that the plan was rejected because “the work is considered too closely tied to immigration enforcement.” Last week California Governor Jerry Brown supported President Trump’s plan as long as it wasn’t connected to immigration enforcement.

But that was then. Now California officials have said no.

President Trump wants troops on the border because he received a fraction of the money he requested from Congress to build his border wall. So, he asked border state governors to activate guard units to enforce immigration. Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona have signed on but California doesn’t want any part of it.
