House Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler says he was informed Attorney General William Barr won’t testify before a House committee tomorrow. He says if “good faith negotiations” don’t work in the next 24 that he will issue a “contempt citation.”
This comes after Barr raised objections about being questioned by Congressional staff attorneys.
Nadler added, “He is trying to blackmail the committee into not following the most effective means of soliciting the information we need.”
A Department of Justice spokesperson released a statement explaining Barr’s refusal to appear.
Nadler also signaled that Robert Mueller may appear before the committee on May 15th.
