The acting White House chief of staff said this morning in the wake of the latest mass shooting that “gun laws are not going to fix everything and “it’s too soon to talk politics.” A gunman with a silencer-equipped .45 caliber handgun with an extended magazine killed twelve people before he was shot to death by police in Virginia Beach on Friday night.

“You have laws on the books that make murder illegal, yet they still do it. Laws are not going to fix everything.” -Mick Mulvaney

Mulvaney also defended moving the U.S.S. John McCain so it would be out of President Trump’s sight on his recent trip to Japan. He said it was “not an unreasonable thing to ask” given how Trump feels about the late Senator.

Mulvaney also said no one would be fired over the incident.
