Sixteen-year-old climate change activist Greta Thunberg took her message right to world leaders today. She got a chance to speak at the Climate Action Summit in New York today saying:

“This is such a crucial day, world leaders are gathering at the UN in New York to decide on our future. The eyes of the world will be upon them.”

During her passionate speech (watch above) she wasn’t shy about calling out leaders for their inaction in fighting climate change:

“You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you. For more than 30 years the science has been crystal clear, how dare you continue to look away?”

You couldn’t help but think part of her speech was aimed at Donald Trump. The president was expected to skip the climate summit altogether but ended up coming for just 10 minutes. Probably no coincidence he arrived after Thunberg spoke.

Meanwhile, Thunberg says she doesn’t want to meet with Trump, but she did get a glimpse of him today in a video that has now gone viral.
