Barack Obama officially endorsed Joe Biden, his former Vice President, in a video today.

“Joe already has what is the most progressive platform of any major-party nominee in history. Because even before the pandemic turned the world upside down, it was already clear we needed real structural change.”

Obama held out making any endorsement during the primary campaign, but it was always believed he would lend his full support to Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders’s endorsement of Biden on Monday was likely the final piece of the puzzle that Obama needed to give his own endorsement.

We will soon learn a lot more about how Obama will support Biden, but The New York Times reports:

The camps are still working out the details of engaging Mr. Obama in fund-raising. But David Plouffe, who remains Mr. Obama’s most trusted political adviser, has offered to pitch in, and plans to participate in several virtual Biden fund-raisers that could be a dry run for Mr. Obama’s participation, according to people briefed on the plans.
