Ben Carson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, is the latest person connected to the White House to test positive for coronavirus.

The Associated Press writes that the “election night watch party in the White House East Room has become another symbol of President Donald Trump’s cavalier attitude toward a virus.”

A few days ago, we learned that the president’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, was also at the party and also contracted the virus. The AP adds:

The White House has repeatedly refused to say who else has tested positive, even as the virus continues to spread.

Slate points out: Meadows was not seen wearing a mask as he mingled and talked to dozens of people at the event, and he was in the room when Trump spoke at around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The New York Times reports that at least five other White House aides tested positive last week. And Monday afternoon, NBC News reported a Trump adviser also came down with coronavirus:

David Bossie, who was recently tasked to head President Trump’s re-election legal challenges, tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, two sources familiar with the matter confirmed to NBC News.

“Because he can’t be at the campaign headquarters and he can’t be in the Oval Office [due to his diagnosis] Dave’s no longer a part of the decision-making process,” one of the sources said.
