Several people who have been Trump loyalists are finally leaving the sinking ship. Most are citing Wednesday’s Capitol Hill siege as the final straw. Late Thursday, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos added her name to the growing list. She was one of the only cabinet members to stick around for Trump’s entire presidency (until now that is).

Earlier in the day another member of the cabinet, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, also quit.

This is significant not just because of her role, but because Chao is also married to current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Others who have resigned in the last 24 hours include longtime Trump ally and former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney. He was currently special envoy to Northern Ireland. In an exclusive interview with CNBC, Mulvaney said:

“I called [Secretary of State] Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I can’t do it. I can’t stay… Those who choose to stay, and I have talked with some of them, are choosing to stay because they’re worried the president might put someone worse in.”

This follows several other resignations, including former White House communications director and press secretary Stephanie Grisham. She was currently the chief of staff for Melania Trump.

This list will be updated throughout the day.
