A couple of new polls show the race tightening for Joe Biden in Florida, a state that is key to winning the election this year. Donald Trump won the state back in 2016 by 1.2%. Many knew the presidency was his, once he took Florida the night of the election four years ago. NBC writes about a new poll they conducted in conjunction with Marist:

Trump and Biden both get the support of 48 percent of likely voters, with the president ahead among Latinos in the state, and Biden doing better with seniors than Hillary Clinton did four years ago.

Among a wider universe of all registered voters, it’s Trump 48 percent, Biden 47 percent.

A new poll from the Miami Herald finds that one reason for Biden’s drop in the polls in the state is Latino voters in Miami-Dade county. The Herald worked with Bendixen & Amandi International surveying 500 likely Miami-Dade voters. The newspaper writes:

The poll found the former vice president splitting Hispanic voters with Trump, with Trump at 47% and Biden at 46%. Those numbers — based on smaller polling subsets with larger margins of error— are driven by Trump’s increased support among conservative leaning Cuban-Americans, who supported Trump over Biden in the poll by a crushing 38 points.

The Biden campaign has recently stepped up its campaign to woo Latino voters in Florida. The Herald reports:

His campaign just bolstered its stable of Hispanic advisers in Florida and in recent weeks released a Spanish-language digital ad featuring Puerto Rican trap singer Bad Bunny and TV commercials criticizing, among other things, Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic…

Biden also recently conducted an interview aired on Spanish-language TV in Miami, as did his running mate, U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, who will be in Miami Thursday for an in-person campaign event for Biden.

Trump is also ramping up efforts in the state. Today, he is traveling to Jupiter, Florida.
