Former Vice President Joe Biden, speaking to journalists representing the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists, said the construction of the border wall would be stopped in his administration.

The Dallas Morning News reports: “There will not be another foot of wall construction in my administration,” Biden said. “I’m going to make sure that we have border protection, but it’s going to be based on making sure that we use high-tech capacity to deal with it. And at the ports of entry — that’s where all the bad stuff is happening.”

The News writes that according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 160 miles of border barrier has been constructed during the Trump administration, but less than 4 miles has been new fence as opposed to replacement of existing barrier.

The cost has been more than $15 billion, but only $5.1 billion has been authorized by Congress. The remaining has been diverted from Pentagon funds.
