Former national security adviser John Bolton is going ahead with the publication of his memoir, even without White House approval. The book, “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir” will be released on June 23rd.

Previously, the White House help up publication of the book to review whether any of the material might be classified. The Washington Post reports:

The president has said that Bolton should not publish the book until after the election and has called him a “traitor” in private for writing a negative tell-all book, The Washington Post has previously reported.

Bolton is planning to publish even if the White House does not give publication approval, people familiar with his thinking say, and believes he has removed all classified material.

The Washington Post describes the memoir as “scathing,” and says Bolton is already in discussions with TV networks to promote the book.

The 592-page tome is said to delve into the Ukraine, and examine, from Bolton’s perspective, whether Trump withheld military aid because he wanted a political favor.
