An evangelical magazine founded by Rev. Billy Graham has come out in favor of Donald Trump’s impeachment and removal from office. Christianity Today writes that Trump is “a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.”
The editor points out that typically the magazine stays above the political fray. But with Trump, the “facts are unambiguous. The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents.“
“We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath.” Christianity Today
Evangelicals have been strong supporters of Trump. He’s packed the courts with conservative judges, but they made a deal with the devil and now, at least from this prominent evangelical magazine, there are regrets.
According to The Washington Post, voters who identified themselves as evangelicals voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton 80-16 percent.
