There are calls to boycott Goya for the second time in one year after the company’s CEO showed he is living in an alternate universe where Joe Biden isn’t president. At CPAC on Sunday, Robert Unanue said:

“It’s just an honor to be here. But my biggest honor today is gonna be that — I think we’re gonna be on the same stage — as, in my opinion, the real, the legitimate, and the still actual president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”

Last July Unanue also came under fire for fawning over Trump at the White House saying “We are truly blessed… to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder.” At the time, former presidential candidate Julian Castro said condemned Unanue saying he was “praising a president who villainizes and maliciously attacks Latinos for political gain.”

Meanwhile, CNN reports, “After Unanue questioned the legitimacy of the election in a Fox Business interview in January 2021, Goya’s board voted to prevent Unanue from speaking to the media without board permission, according to a source familiar with the board’s action.”

So far Goya has remained silent on whether they knew Unanue was going to speak at CPAC and they also haven’t commented on the speech itself. As we await comment, #BoycottGoya is trending on Twitter.
