Another member of Donald Trump’s cabinet is out.

This came just two days after Nielsen accompanied Trump to the border. Axios’ Jonathan Swan is one of the most connected reporters in D.C. Sources tell him Nielsen was forced out.

Sources tell CNN’s Jake Tapper:

“In California on Friday, a senior administration official tells CNN, President Trump told border agents he wanted them to stop letting people cross the border, despite the fact that Central American asylum seekers according to US law can do so.

“Secretary Nielsen “believed the situation was becoming untenable with the President becoming increasingly unhinged about the border crisis and making unreasonable and even impossible requests,” a senior administration official tells CNN.”

Here is some of the reaction.

The Washington Post writes:

Nielsen was selected for the job by White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly in 2017, at a moment when the former Marine Corps general was at a peak of influence within the administration. But her standing with President Trump was shaky from the outset, and Trump began blaming her when illegal migration rebounded at the southern border.
