Stimulus payments have been rolling out, but for those who haven’t received their money yet and want to check on the status of their payment, a government website is supposed to help. As NPR reports, “the IRS has launched a pair of websites to speed payments to those who haven’t already supplied the government with their bank information.” Problem is a lot of people on Twitter say when they log on they get a message that says, “payment status not available.” We tested it out with a News & Guts employee and got the same message.

The IRS says people may be getting this message for the following reasons:

  • If you aren’t eligible for a payment
  • If you haven’t filed a 2018 or 2019 tax return
  • If you recently filed through the new IRS non-filers tool
  • If you get SSA, RRB, SSI or VA benefits.

But some are remarking on social media that they don’t fit any of that criteria and are immediately eligible, yet still receiving the message.

This is the link to the website if you want to test it out for yourself:
