House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy knows how to dodge a direct question. McCarthy was asked to confirm if Donald Trump said to him during the height of the insurrection: “Well Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.” McCarthy wanted Trump to make a public statement and call off the protesters who were storming the Capital.

Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday asked McCarthy if it was true.

GOP Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler first reported on the contents of the call during Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial.

NBC News writes:

“Separately, three sources brief on the matter told NBC News that the two men got into an expletive-laden argument. Sources described the call, which took place as a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol amid the affirmation of Electoral College votes, as “not cordial” and borderline incoherent. At one point in the call, according to a Republican lawmaker briefed on what was said, McCarthy told Trump: “Who the F— do you think you are talking to?””
