Donald Trump has been called out again, this time by Mexico’s foreign minister. From the New York Times:

Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s top diplomat, said at a news conference in Mexico City that there was an understanding that both sides would evaluate the flow of migrants in the coming months. And if the number of migrants crossing the United States border was not significantly reduced, he said, both sides had agreed to renew discussions about more aggressive changes to regional asylum rules that could make a bigger impact.

Trump said via Twitter today that a fully signed and documented agreement would be revealed soon. But apparently, no such document exists.

The President claimed victory in the deal on Friday when he suspended planned tariffs on Mexican goods because of a supposedly new deal that meant Mexico would send troops to its border with Guatemala and force Central Americans to apply for asylum outside the United States. But the Times reported none of that was new.

There is an understanding between the two countries to re-visit the situation in 45, and again in 90 days to see if the number of migrants coming to the United States has dropped.

There is no agreement on asylum changes as it would take the approval of the Mexican Senate.
