The Washington Post spoke with Nancy Pelosi about “a term that will almost certainly be the most critical of her career.” And what may be one of the most defining moments of this term is whether she decides to lead impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump. Here’s what she told WAPO’s Joe Heim:

I’m not for impeachment. This is news. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.

While it seems like she isn’t ready to talk about impeachment (for now) some analysts believe it’s just part of her strategy.
