Congress now moves to the head of the line when it comes to vaccine distribution. ABC News reports:

The Capitol physician, Dr. Brian P. Monahan, informed members that they are all eligible for the shots under government continuity guidelines. He asked all members to make appointments with his office to be vaccinated.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi received the vaccine shortly after that message was sent out.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is also expected to receive the vaccine shortly. What will be interesting to watch is whether the more skeptical members of Congress will take the vaccine. There are several people in the House and Senate who have questioned the severity of coronavirus and shunned mask-wearing. Regardless, Dr. Monahan is urging all members to get the vaccine.

“My recommendation to you is absolutely unequivocal: there is no reason why you should defer receiving this vaccine. The benefit far exceeds any small risk.”
