It has been the epicenter of the epidemic in America, but on Friday Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the first phase of reopening New York City will begin on June 8. It will not be the same city as three months ago. The New York Times writes:

Under the first phase of reopening, nonessential stores could open for curbside pickup and nonessential construction and manufacturing can resume.

Cuomo said up to 400,000 could go back to work in the five boroughs.

More than 16,000 have died due to the coronavirus in New York City.
