Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman, a key witness in the Trump impeachment hearings, could soon be penalized for his testimony. Vindman is due to be promoted to colonel, which would normally be routine, but sources tell the Washington Post, that could be in jeapordy.

Multiple government officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to address personnel matters, have voiced concern, however, that the White House could strike Vindman’s name once it is conveyed, effectively sanctioning him for testimony he gave under subpoena to House lawmakers.

Vindman, who was awarded the Purple Heart for his actions in Iraq, served on the National Security Council and was listening on the call when President Trump asked the Ukrainian president for “a favor.” Vindman’ s testimony was corroborated by other witnesses and a transcript of the conversation provided by the White House.

Vindman “was very insubordinate, reported contents of my ‘perfect’ calls incorrectly, & was given a horrendous report by his superior,” Trump tweetedafter the officer’s removal. “In other words, ‘OUT.’ ”

After Trump was acquitted, Vindman was fired by Trump and escorted out of the building.

“For his lifetime of service and his commitment to the rule of law, Lt. Col. Vindman has been targeted by the President and his proxies in an effort to humiliate and intimidate.” – David Pressman, Attorney for Alexander Vindman
