Donald Trump Jr’s new book, “Triggered” is number one today in “Political Commentary & Opinion” on Amazon. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the book is flying off of the website. Instead, it’s getting some major help from the Republican National Committee.
So instead of paying $18 for the book on Amazon, people are being asked to pay $50 or more in the form of a donation. Raw Story puts it this way, “(The) Republican Party is running a scheme to boost reported ‘sales.'”
The book is also getting help from the president who tweeted, “Go order it today!” The Associated Press writes:
That kind of promotional tweet would be a violation of ethics rules if it had come from any federal employee other than the president, said Liz Hempowicz, the director of public policy at the Project on Government Oversight, a nonpartisan government watchdog group.
“Frankly he’s using his Twitter account to try to financially benefit his son,” she said Monday. “That’s not only distasteful, but it’s a misuse of public office and it would be an official misuse of public office if it was anyone other than the president.”
Meanwhile, comedian Samantha Bee is poking fun at another way Trump Jr. has decided to promote his book. She tweeted, “Today feels like a gorgeous day to reverse troll Don Jr for his stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid book related website http://triggeratroll.com“
