Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced he is battling cancer, saying he first noticed something was wrong in early January:

“I have been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. Diagnosis confirmed by two medical institutions back on January 20th.”

He went on to say:

“There are going to be days that I’m not going to be able to be here because I’m undergoing treatment or I’m reacting to treatment.”

Dr. Allie Garcia-Serra, a Radiation Oncologist at Innovative Cancer Institute in South Miami, Florida, is not treating Limbaugh, but told News & Guts:

The prognosis of advanced lung cancer depends on stage or extent of disease on presentation as well as the exact subtype of cancer. In general most patients who are diagnosed with advanced lung cancer have poor survival rates. However many patients with lung cancer are living longer than before due to advances in treatment including immunotherapy.
