Nevada requires indoor gatherings be no more than 50 people. Last night Donald Trump ignored the restriction when he hosted an indoor rally, his first since June, near Las Vegas. While the White House insisted those standing behind Trump wear masks, most of the thousands attending didn’t have face coverings.

Nevada’s governor Steve Sisolak blasted Trump’s decision to hold an indoor rally in a pandemic.

“The President appears to have forgotten that this country is still in the middle of a global pandemic.” Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak

Trump lied when he told the crowd the nation was “making the last turn” in defeating the virus. The U.S. is averaging more than 1000 deaths per day, with tens of thousands of infections.

As for the venue, The Associated Press reports: “The city of Henderson informed Xtreme Manufacturing on Sunday that the event as planned was in direct violation of the governor’s COVID-19 emergency directives and that penalties would follow. The Trump campaign pushed back against the restrictions with the president saying he would support those in attendance “if the governor came after you.”

The Bulwark writes: “This was Trump’s first indoor rally since the Tulsa disaster that cost Brad Parscale his job and after which Herman Cain lost his life.”
