Two weeks after the deadly rampage, doors were open again this morning at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. One student called the experience “odd but calming.”
The students first observed 17 seconds of silence, one for each victim of the shooting.
Then they went about their school day, each class lasting only half an hour. The school day ended before noon.
Matt Deitsch tweeted a poem he asked everyone to read. It’s written by his sister, Samantha, a student at the school. Her birthday was February 14, the day of the shooting.
My sister turned 15 the day of the shooting.. She has had a hard time finding her voice in all of this and asked me to share this poem with you.
On the night before my sister returns to MSD, It would mean a lot if you could read her poem.#NeverAgain pic.twitter.com/3O4Z1knIuv
