In an address from the Oval Office, Donald Trump addressed the coronavirus by saying he was suspending air travel from Europe to the United States for 30 days beginning on Friday. The Department of Homeland Security later walked back some of the remarks. From Politico:

In a rare address from the Oval Office, Trump said the European Union had “failed to take the same precautions” as the U.S. had implemented to contain the coronavirus outbreak. The United Kingdom will not be included in the travel ban with the continent.

Trump also said he would “soon be taking an emergency action” to provide a financial cushion to small businesses and individuals hit by the coronavirus.

There are so many unanswered questions with this decision, including cargo, food and goods from Europe are also banned.

Critics were quick to jump on the decision.

UPDATE: Shortly after the address, we received a major clarification from the Department of Homeland Security.
