In a statement release from the Pentagon, acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan announced he’s authorizing a new wave of troops to be deployed to the Middle East. This deployment will be around 1,000 troops. Last month, the administration sent 1500 to the region.

“The action today is being taken to ensure the safety and welfare of our military personnel working throughout the region and to protect our national interests,” Shanahan said. “We will continue to monitor the situation diligently and make adjustments to force levels as necessary given intelligence reporting and credible threats.”

Also, President Trump vowed Iran would not be allowed to build a nuclear weapon.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit U.S. Central Command in Florida as the Trump administration gears up for a possible confrontation with Iran.

CNN is reporting shortly after the State Department announced Pompeo’s trip, a series of photographs were released allegedly showing Iranians removing a mine from one of the two tankers attacked in the Gulf of Oman last week.

Meanwhile, in Tehran, the government reported it would soon have more enriched uranium than it was permitted to have under the Iran nuclear deal. Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement last year. And it announced plans to enrich more uranium soon.
