Beto O’Rourke didn’t win a Texas Senate seat back in 2018, but he’s certainly acting more like a leader than the person who won the seat. While Ted Cruz escaped to Mexico, O’Rourke is on the ground in Texas trying to help people in the state who are suffering.

The private citizen isn’t just helping the 48% who voted for him, he is trying to help anyone he can.

O’Rourke’s Twitter feed this week has been full of information on how the community can get help. From warming centers to food banks, he is proving to be a lifeline for people in need of help.

O’Rourke is also offering his perspective on the failures the state has made to protect the people who live in the state. Today on MSNBC (watch above), the former Congressman said, “In Texas, you have an example of what happens when a state is governed by those who do not believe in government to begin with. They have had absolute control of the statehouse, lieutenant governor, governor for the last 20 years.”

The hosts of Morning Joe asked the 48-year-old if he had any plans to run for governor, but he said, “I haven’t really thought about it. Right now is not the time to think about it.”
