One of Donald Trump’s candidates to serve on the Federal Reserve Board is trying to do a mini image makeover. Recently it’s come out that Stephen Moore has disparaged women in the past and even trashed some cities in the Midwest. Today he tried to explain the comments to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos:
“These articles that you’re talking about were 17, 18 years ago. Frankly, I didn’t even remember writing some of these they were so long ago. now you asked me the question of whether I’m apologetic about some of those columns. They were humor columns but some of them weren’t funny, and so I’m apologetic and embarrassed by some of those things I wrote, but I do think we should get back to the issue of whether I’m qualified to be on the federal reserve board.”
Some people may not think calling Midwest cities that “armpits of America” is all that funny. And where is the humor in saying things like, “The women tennis pros don’t really want equal pay for equal work. They want equal pay for inferior work”
Moore claims he didn't remember writing some of these things and says he's apologetic and embarrassed.
When I asked for comment on our story last week: "This was a spoof I have a sense of humor."
So he did seem to remember them and did find it funny.https://t.co/VTY2zN3gHT
