Devastating fires are sweeping across southern California on Monday. In Los Angeles County, a blaze now dubbed the Getty fire broke out suddenly around 1:30am Monday morning. The LAFD calls it “a very dynamic fire.. moving in a westward direction driven by high winds.” There are now 10,000 structures in the mandatory evacuation zones.

The fire is impacting some of LA’s most affluent neighborhoods. Basketball star LeBron James is among those who had just minutes to evacuate their home. On Twitter, he wrote, “My best wishes as well to the first responders right now doing what they do best!”
Man these LA ? aren’t no joke. Had to emergency evacuate my house and I’ve been driving around with my family trying to get rooms. No luck so far! ??♂️

In the northern part of the states, The Washington Post writes:
Powerful weekend wind gusts frustrated efforts to beat back the massive Kincade Fire that’s cutting a destructive path through Northern California’s wine country and has prompted evacuations of nearly 200,000 people as the wildfire marches southwest toward the county’s population hub of Santa Rosa.
