If you tuned in to any of the Sunday talk shows, you would have heard one common theme from Republicans; don’t believe your eyes and ears. The admission from Donald Trump that he talked to the president of Ukraine about the Bidens? Forget that. The transcript? The whistleblower report?  Doesn’t matter. Remember the famous line “pathological liar” Jon Lovitz played on Saturday Night Live? Yeah, that’s the ticket! That should be the GOP’s new motto. As Vox puts it “Trump loyalists were still remarkably unequipped to make a case for their president.”

One of our favorites is Rep. Steve Scalise who told NBC: President Trump is asking for a “favor” in looking into Russia’s interference in the 2016 campaign. He wasn’t talking about Joe Biden or Hunter Biden when he referred to a “favor.”

All Sunday talk shows almost certainly requested the White House send an official mouthpiece, but it looks the only person they offered up was senior advisor Stephen Miller. He appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. If they thought Miller could spin things on Fox, they were wrong. Wallace wasn’t letting him get away with much. Vox adds:

In stark contrast to the way Trump loyalists are usually treated by Wallace’s network, the Fox News Sunday host wouldn’t let Miller get away with the deflections he tried to use to twist Trump’s Ukraine scandal in one about Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

And Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani also made the rounds again. Looks like Trump doesn’t realize that Giuliani’s appearances don’t do him any favors.
