Shaquille O’Neal sat with TNT’s NBA crew Tuesday night at the Staples Center to deliver an emotional tribute to his friend Kobe Bryant saying:

“I haven’t felt a pain that sharp in a while. Forty-seven years old. I lost two grandmothers, lost Sarge [his stepfather], lost my sister, but now I’ve lost a little brother. Our names will be attached together for what we did.”

During the hour-long show remembering his friend, Shaq said Bryant’s death was a “triple stabbing to the heart” that is causing him to reflect on how he communicates with others in his life:

“I’m going to try to do a better job of just talking to people, rather than always procrastinating. Because you never know, life is too short.”
