Walmart is apologizing after someone tweeted an insult to Senator Josh Hawley from the company’s verified Twitter account. It came after the Missouri Republican said he would object to certifying Joe Biden’s electoral college win (while this won’t impact the outcome of the certification process in Congress, it will open things up to a debate). Hawley himself reacted strongly to the tweet.

Walmart’s corporate account addressed the tweet on twitter writing:

“The tweet published earlier was mistakenly posted by a member of our social media team. We deleted the post and have no intention of commenting on the subject of certifying the electoral college. We apologize to Senator Hawley for this error and any confusion about our position.”

Regardless of the apology, the phrase #BoycottWalmart is trending on Twitter.
