The White House has been waging war on CNN with Donald Trump leading the way with his “fake news” diatribes and calling the cable channel “the enemy.”  And the situation is only getting worse as the White House press secretary admitted they are punishing CNN for  “bad behavior.”  This came after Jim Acosta of CNN tried to ask a question of Trump at a news conference.  Trump said he wasn’t answering questions from “fake news” and called on a reporter from Fox.It was an embarrassing and humiliating moment on the world stage for everyone.

Jake Tapper says CNN subsequently asked the White House for someone to appear on its “State of the Union” program.  The administration offered and confirmed National Security Advisor John Bolton. Then they proceeded to resort to childish retaliation.

Here is Sarah Sanders statement about canceling the interview, “…a @CNN reporter disrespected @POTUS & PM May during their press conf. Instead of rewarding bad behavior, we decided to reprioritize the TV appearances for administration officials.” To be absolutely clear about this, Sanders is saying if you don’t report positively on this President you will be punished.

While Trump is in the middle of one of the biggest week’s of his presidency he also found time this weekend to tweet about CNN.

Trump’s own “bad behavior” shouldn’t go unnoticed. The way he tried to humiliate CNN’s Jim Acosta isn’t the way you’d treat a “nice guy.” Not to mention screaming “fake news” at a news conference with UK Prime Minister Theresa May is simply beneath the dignity of the office. It’s time for all legitimate news organizations to come together and show we are all colleagues.

Many in the media called Fox’s John Roberts out Friday. When Acosta was trying to ask a question Trump called on Roberts instead. Roberts asked his question as if it was status quo, but later explained why he didn’t yield his question to Acosta or stand up for CNN.

Too little, too late?
